It's original, and I like simplicity, but it might be too simple. The logo has such a simple shape that it's hard to guess what it's related to; I'm not arguing for one more logo containing "X2" or "XMMS2", but maybe the shape could evoke music somehow, or be a more memorable symbol that people would associate to XMMS2.
I made another version (soft brass) that has nice round shapes. Part of it could be mistaken for a bass clef by someone with a very bad eyesight ;) It should be up soon-ish.
